Design Quandary

Dear Friends,

I have this lamp. I am not sure how I feel about this lamp and where it currently resides. Would you tell me what you think? I am by no means an interior decorator and am in need of assistance.

Sincerely,

In A Brown Lamp Quandary

So my main problem with this lamp sitting here (in our bedroom) is its size.  My night table is relatively small and the lamp takes up the whole top of it.  I am wondering if it kinda looks like an out-of-place giant hovering in the corner of our bedroom?  I like the brown earthiness since it ties into my brown/blue scheme, but just wish it were a tad smaller. I could find it another home if need be, and shop for a smaller night table lamp-- what say you?

I feel like it's sort of "stuck" in the corner. I guess it's the size, like you said, but...I don't know...I can't put my finger on it. Maybe if you put some art work or something over the bed it will balance it?

I do love the actual lamp though. It's very pretty. :)

That's exactly how I feel-- like it's just sitting there, not adding to the quality of the room. It's "stuck"! I can't hang art over the bed because we bought an air conditioner that just got hung over the bed yesterday-- pretty huh?

Get a bigger night stand!! That will give you room for the lamp and other things!

Honestly, this is not the sort of thing you want to ask me. I looked at the photos and was like, um, what's the problem?

There's a reason I'm not in interior design. See also: I accidentally picked the color of baby poop for a wall in my house recently. Oops.

Hmmmmm, a good idea. Though I'm sure I could more easily talk Hubby into a new lamp over a new piece of furniture from IKEA that he would have to assemble! ;)

Haha, Sarah that really made me laugh. Poop color, really?

Hey...just catching up on your blog since I was busy in June.
We bought these great bedside lights from IKEA that solved a similar problem. Use that lamp in another room. These wall lights take up NO space on the side table and provide plenty of light to read by. I LOVE THEM! It is the GYLLEN light. It's basically a light box and they have a few different glass inserts to choose from. Totally left me room on the nightstand for books, water, etc.
