Highlights & Lowlights

I got a new lens for my birthday.  I am in love with my 35mm f/1.8.

Hubby brought me flowers last week for no reason.  I really like that guy.

We are mastering the art of making our own popsicles.  Summer is magical.

I have also perfected the at-home-Cook-Out-milkshake.  These happen when the kids are asleep.  Bliss in a cup.

Life is good.

But sometimes it's hard too.  We had friends come and visit, and it was sad to put them back on an airplane to the States.  Language learning can be tough for a momma with young'uns, I have had some discouraging days with our new language lately.  I constantly crave foods from America and am not able to satisfy my cravings this pregnancy like I have before (although my barely growing numbers on the scale are quite pleasant to look at...)

Overall I'd say the good outweighs the bad.  And the glass is certainly half full.  (Of sweet tea.)

Oh man. What kinds of things are you craving this time around that you can't find over there? Thinking about you all the time!

oh i feel your pain. or at least part of it. even though we are in a neighboring country, there are many things i crave (but not pregnancy-crave ;) but cannot get... especially luzianne tea for sweet tea.

i'm loving your pictures of the kids! he is such a little version of hubby! ;) and i love my f/1.8, it's pretty much always on my camera. but it's a 50mm. do you like the fixed 35mm?

happy trails!

It's just the fact that when I want something (chick fil a sandwich, sonic slushy) I can't just get in the car and drive there to get it. :(

Haha, lot of ice cream, little bit of milk, chopped up candy, and I just blend it by hand so my chocolate chunks stay large! ;)

I got the 35mm because the 50mm doesn't autofocus on the Nikon D40 and I wanted the ability to autofocus when I wanted... so far I love it with the kids, but definitely haven't mastered it yet! I'd love any tips you have to pass along!

Hang in there with the language learning. Discouragement comes before encouragement. It WILL come. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other, and communicating will get better. It's hard with little ones and very little time to practice-- you know I understand! :) But just a little note to say, do not grow weary in well doing.

Thanks Jess, that was exactly the encouragement I needed today. :)
